In 1972, GLORIA
NEAL was asked to form a gospel group for her church's women's day.
The positive reception they received motivated her to continue, adopting
the name, GLORIA NEAL AND HER LADIES OF SONG.
Since their creation, the LADIES OF SONG have toured the USA extensively,
appearing in numerous churches and on several TV shows. Owing to their
energetic style and appealing stage personality they have been invited
to sing in many famous concert halls and auditoriums, including: The
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in Washington D.C., The Academy
of Music in Philadelphia, New York's Madison Square Garden, The Dallas
Memorial Hall in Texas, The Fox Theater in Atlanta, Georgia, The Shrine
Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, The James Knight Performing Arts
Center in Miami, Florida as well as many of America's best known colleges
and universities.
Today the group is composed of five singers and an exceptional pianist,
all dedicated to maintaining the unique traditional style.
The LADIES OF SONG sang for the first time on our continent at the 1999
CULLY JAZZ FESTIVAL. The same year, they were invited to open the BERN
INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL and performed at JAZZ IN MARCIAC. During
two major European tours, at the end of 2000 and 2001, they gave numerous
concerts in France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Monaco, Madrid, as
well as in other prestigious Spanish concert halls, not to mention the
Canary Islands.
They are today among the very best female groups in activity in the
USA. They are committed to preserving traditional GOSPEL and SPIRITUALS
to the utmost enjoyment of their listeners, delighted by their authenticity
and by the beauty of their art.
